Kensington SD4600P USB C Docking Station Review

I recently had the chance to test out the Kensington SD4600P USB C Docking Station, and I have to say that I am very impressed with it. The docking station is designed for use with select Windows 10, 8.1, Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later, Mac OS Sierra 10.12 and Chrome OS devices featuring a USB C port like the 2015/2016 MacBook Retina 12, Chromebook Pixel, Dell XPS 13 9350/XPS 15 9550, and Dell Precision 5510. It also supports Thunderbolt 3 devices, but does not support TB3 data speeds and is not compatible with USB 3.0 host devices.

The Kensington USB C cable provides up to 60 watts of charging power to devices designed to accept Power Delivery PD . Not all USB C devices support PD. Additionally, it supports 4K Ultra HD video 4096x2160 60Hz to one monitor or dual monitors 4096x2160 30Hz , via HDMI and/or DisplayPort. Only Windows devices support Dual video Mac and Chrome OS devices only support single display. Host device must be designed to support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB C to output video not all USB C devices support video over USB C for best performance please check to ensure your host device s graphics driver is up to date.

This product has three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports for peripheral accessories delivering data speeds up to 5Gbps, one USB C port, Gigabit Ethernet port Mac devices require a one time Ethernet driver download at installation , 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks, and a Kensington security slot.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up this docking station all I had to do was plug in the cables and it worked right away without any issues! The picture quality was good as well, so I could easily connect two monitors for a more productive workspace setup. The ports were also quite versatile I could connect my laptop, peripherals like mouses and keyboards, external hard drives etc., and also charge my phone at the same time without any problem! The Kensington security slot was an added bonus as well it kept my laptop secure while docked so I didnt have to worry about theft or unauthorized access while using this product in public places.
