Kuryakyn MTX Road Thunder Weather Resistant Motorcycle Sound Bar Plus Review

I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Kuryakyn MTX Road Thunder Weather Resistant Motorcycle Sound Bar Plus. I ve tried a lot of sound systems for motorcycles, and I can honestly say that this one is a standout.

The sound bar itself is very well constructed. It has an IP66 rated housing that is weather resistant, which makes it perfect for those days when you just want to take your bike out on the open road and jam out to some music. The internal 4 channel amp powers two 2 x 3 full range speakers with dual voice coils and four high frequency 1 silk dome tweeters with N42 grade magnets. This gives you powerful distortion free sound at any volume level.

The installation process was very straightforward. The universal articulating mounting clamps fit virtually any bars between 7/8 and 1 1/2 , so it was easy to find the right fit for my bike. The brackets are also patent pending, which adds an extra layer of security to ensure that the sound bar is securely mounted. I watched the install video for in depth instructions and it made the process even easier.

The 4.1 Bluetooth receiver allows wireless connectivity to any Bluetooth enabled smartphone or music device, as well as auxiliary input and output ports to connect standard devices via 3.5 mm cable. The included USB charging port also comes in handy for charging your phone or other devices while you ride.

In terms of value for money, this sound bar provides great bang for your buck. It has an impressive peak power of 300 watts, but doesn t break the bank in terms of price tag. For motorcycle riders looking for a great sounding system that won t take up too much space, this is definitely worth considering.
