Never use soap or detergent on a stone though stains are normal from oils, cheese, crusts or other baked goodies that have been cooked on it these marks will not affect performance or function in any way and many cooks even prefer stones that have been used before! If you dont like these marks you can always use the parchment paper included in the set.
