I recently had the opportunity to review the Sphero Mini App Enabled Programmable Robot Ball, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by its features and capabilities. The Sphero Mini is a small, blue robot ball made of plastic that can be programmed using the free Sphero Edu app. It is equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, and colorful LED lights for an interactive experience.

The Sphero Mini is designed to inspire future inventors and changemakers through hands on applied learning of coding, science, music, and the arts. It is perfect for those just starting out in robotics or coding as it has easy drag and drop coding blocks that can be used to customize games or code the robot. The included 3 traffic cones and 6 bowling pins provide an obstacle course for learners to enjoy right out of the box.

Aside from programming, users can also use the robot as a game controller with the free Sphero Play App. It has three different games to choose from shoot through space, speed through a tunnel, or smash a polygon of bricks all with 1 hour of play time. The app also lets you drive and play STEM inspired games with its Joystick mode, pull back and release with Slingshot mode or tip and rotate your mobile device with Tilt mode.
